Cherubini Symphony in D
Schubert's dramatic 4th Symphony named by the composer himself the "Tragic", and written when he was ony 19, is programmed with the more cheerful and effervescent Symphony in D,. Cherubini's only symphony was composed in 1815, a year before the Schubert.

Returning to our commitment to programme female composers which we began last season, this concert features the beautiful and unjustly neglected Symphony no 3 by Louise Farrenc written in 1847.
