LEICESTERSHIRE SINFONIA

ABOUT US

The Leicestershire Sinfonia is an amateur ensemble formed in 2006 by Matt Lynch, and now in its 19th season. Matt is now making an international career as a conductor and we are very proud that he started with us when he was still at school.  We are based at St Philips church, Evington Road, Leicester.

The main aims of the Sinfonia are to give musicians in Leicestershire an ensemble where they can achieve their full musical potential, through a varied selection of repertoires, comprising orchestral concerts of varying sizes, and chamber music. We pride ourselves on being friendly and approachable.

Leicestershire Sinfonia puts on two or three concerts each year. This season we will be focussing on slightly smaller scale, chamber orchestra repertoire. By combining well known repertoire with lesser known works, and contemporary pieces, we aim to bring play a full part in  Leicester's thriving classical music scene.

We welcome new players, especially violins and violas. Come and give us a try!
